Charity Work
One of the primary focuses of the 501st Legion is to give back to the community through charity and volunteer work. The Mountain Garrison takes this to heart by contributing ourselves to many different charities throughout the year.
Toys for Tots:
Each year the 501st Mountain Garrison helps to support the Marine Corps and their Toys for Tots program by appearing as costumed support staff during the collection and presentation of toys. The Toys for Tots program collects new, unwrapped toys during the last quarter each year and then distributes them to needy and underprivileged kids in the local communities.
JDRF:
The 501st Mountain Garrison has been a part of the JDRF walk to Cure Diabetes for several years, and participates by providing costumed support personnel and at times actually participates in the walks. Over the past three years, the 501st Mountain Garrison has contributed over $2,000 annually to the charity, which is dedicated to helping to fund the search to cure Type 1 diabetes.

Make-A-Wish:
The 501st Mountain Garrison is pleased to work with the Make-A-Wish foundation, as one of the major charity partners the 501st works with around the world. As our founder, Albin Johnson has lived through a child with cancer, the 501st works to help support the Make-A-Wish Foundation through working directly with the charity, or by appearing at events where a donation is made to Make-A-Wish in the name of the 501st. The Make-A-Wish Foundation exists to help make wishes come true for children with life-threatening medical conditions.

United Blood Services:
Not only do the 501st Mountain Garrison come out and support great charity events, we participate in them as well. The 501st Mountain Garrison supports the United Blood Services by suiting up and providing some lievly entertainment for those giving blood, as well as encouraging others to donate. Even members of the the 501st will get into the act and donate themselves, making this a cause they not only support in numbers, but also in donations.

Salvation Army:
Being of military mind, the 501st Mountain Garrison is in full force where the Salvation Army is concerned. Each year the 501st Mountain Garrison gets out and rings bells all over Colorado and New Mexico to help support this great organization. The Salvation Army is usually most visible at Christmas time, and their fund-raising efforts go to help support families in need, disaster relief efforts, and many other areas like community care.
